Digital Marketing - Study Notes:

Excessive keywords in backlink anchor text

It’s poor etiquette to ask another website to link to you in a certain way. That’s just not something that you should be doing. It’s quite easy for search engines to detect.

We need to take a step back and ask ourselves, “What are we trying to do by putting keywords in anchor text?” We’re trying to tell Google more about what the relevancy of our site is. So, rather than actually target keywords and anchor text, why don’t we just target domains and pages that are very relevant to our industry and the phrase and the topic that we want to rank for? That’s probably a better thing to do. So think a little bit more topical about your content marketing and your link building.
